Reading are preparing to sell Shane Long.
The Mirror says Reading boss Brian McDermott is ready to snap up striker Craig Davies from League One winners Chesterfield in a surprise free transfer deal.
Davies can leave John Sheridan's club for nothing at the end of a successful scoring season - and the Royals are looking at him.
McDermott wants the far-travelled forward as a potential replacement for Long who is a target for major interest from Wolves.
