Wolves boss Nuno admits they may seek to expand his squad next season.

Nuno has been a big believer in having a small, tight-knit group during his time at Molineux but a succession of major injuries this campaign have forced a rethink.

And while focused on the remaining five Premier League games – a short trip to fierce rivals Albion coming up on Monday – the Portuguese insists working with a bigger group will benefit Wolves in the long run.

“We have to change our philosophy so we can be better prepared for what's coming in front of us," said Nuno.

“We need to prepare and plan better. If you look back – of course there are circumstances you cannot control – but what we wanted from our initial plan, we couldn't make it.

“Our initial plan was A, it didn't work out. We've tried to find other ways, but in the future we have to plan in a different way. We've had long-term injuries and when we've had problems on big players, the solutions are not so ready.

“So, all these things are on the table for us to plan and organise better, and avoid some of the mistakes we've made."

On whether having more players around will impact Wolves' team spirit, Nuno said: “I don't see it as a risk. I see it as a different way.

“Our foundation is strong enough to avoid that situation. Our team spirit will never be affected, no matter how many players we have.

“We still believe there's a balance and I'll look to avoid having players if I don't totally trust them. It would be absurd to have more players just because of precaution. We have to find the right balance."

Nuno, asked if he wants more experience in the ranks too, added: “We're not looking at that now. What characteristics, all these things, it's not the moment to address yet."
