Wolves boss Lage happy with players after Spurs Cup defeat

Wolves boss Bruno Lage was happy with his players after their Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham.

Wolves lost on penalties after fighting back from 2-0 down to have the scores level at 2-2 after extra time.

Lage later said: “The way we prepare for the game and the way we saw our first game against Tottenham, we had that feeling, even with the changes, the dynamic is there. We have that feeling since the beginning that we can win the game.

“But the way we started, we tried to control the things, but Yerson [Mosquera] came out and in that period, the way we suffered the goals, we gave two goals to them.

“But we have the power and the strength to turn the game to ourselves, from 2-0 to 2-2, and then we create the better chances to win.

“So, it's a disappointing result, but I'm happy with what the boys did during the game."

The manager added: "The biggest thing we are doing and the players, they are there, they are working very hard to try to play in this way and we believe we can win more games in this way.

“But we are making some mistakes, some individual mistakes, some collective mistakes, and there are things we need to work, because every time we conceded easy chances for the opponents to score.

“This is one side and the other side is how we are creating chances to score. The goals are coming. Today they came, two good goals. In the end, I'm happy, but I'm not satisfied with the result because we didn't go forward in the cup."
