Wolves boost in battle for Liverpool target Matheus Nunes

Wolves chiefs remain keen on Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Wolves have been competing with Liverpool for Nunes, who was hopeful of signing for the Reds.

However, the Daily Mail says Liverpool have pulled out of the transfer race for Nunes - leaving the door open for Bruno Lage's side.

Wolves have been leaning on agent Jorge Mendes to reach a deal for the midfielder.

Nunes impressed in last season's Champions League and shone so bright that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola even singled him out for praise.

The Manchester City manager said: "I would say that Matheus Nunes is one of the best players in the world today."
