VfL Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst has confirmed interest from Tottenham over the summer.
Spurs took a close look at the Dutchman before eventually signing Benfica centre-forward Carlos Vinicius.
"I can be honest, of course I knew that there was interest left and right," Weghorst told Kicker, "with Tottenham it was serious, I was a candidate."
Weghorst continues: “Of course, something like that also interests you. It is also confirmation that I am on the right path.
"But in the end it has to be right for all parties. That was not the case. That is why I am staying in Wolfsburg with all my love.
"At the end of the transfer phase, I was glad that it was over. My family is also happy to stay in Wolfsburg."
He added, "Nevertheless, the Premier League is still a dream of mine. Two years ago I decided for VfL and against West Ham United."
