Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez has shrugged off not getting a move away this summer.

Rodriguez, a reported Arsenal and Manchester City transfer target, says he was destined to remain at the Bundesliga club.

"I guess it was just meant to be this way. God wanted it this way," Rodriguez told Blick.

"You just need the right timing for a transfer and it's a fact that during this transfer window, there were hardly any transfers of players in my position."
