Former Holland striker Wim Kieft believes Ajax will be facing Real Madrid just at the right time.

The two teams will meet next month in the Champions League round of 16.

After Madrid's defeat at home to Real Sociedad, Kieft said: "The way Real Madrid plays ... There is no tempo, there is no joy in playing, there is no willingness, it always starts with willingness.

"If you see with what ball pace is played by Real Madrid, then it is for Ajax to hope that they can match this level, because then you have a very good chance.

"Real Madrid are painful to watch."
