Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has defended his new podcast.
The striker claimed Newcastle were not fit enough for the first game of the Premier League season against West Ham on The Footballer's Football Podcast with Michail Antonio.
But Wilson, 29, says it is not their intention to hurt anyone's feelings.
Speaking in Newcastle's matchday programme ahead of their clash against Manchester United, he said: "The BBC aren't trying to trip anyone up - they're not trying to catch us out or anything.
"They're looking out for us as well.
"We're not on to slag anyone off or anything like that - it's all positive, really, and hopefully only positive things can come with it.
"It's basically a podcast that is the views of two current footballers, but it's for everybody.
"It's about general topics, topics that are going on in the world, but it's our opinions.
"You're not in front of a camera having an interview, where you're quite regimented in what you say.
"You can have a bit more of a laugh, it's a bit more light-hearted, you can have a joke, and it's aimed at everyone, really.
"It's something that's slightly different to hearing from ex-players or pundits.
"We'll see how far it goes. There's been good feedback from it so far, but we're not doing it for any reason.
"It's more just to have a laugh with each other, have a chat, digest games, have friendly competitions and just hear from different people."
