Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill has heaped praise on teammate Willian after the Brazilian claimed the Chelsea Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards.

The England international claims that Willian was the brightest spark for the Blues in on otherwise disappointing season which saw them finish 10th in the Premier League following their title win in 2014/15.

"Willian has consistently performed the best over the course of the season, which has obviously been disappointing for us all," Cahill told the club's official website.

"He was the shining light from this season.

"I have been here since he's been here and he's improved every season. This year he improved again and that's why I voted for him."
