Armenia winger Aras Ozbiliz has revealed how injury thwarted a move to Manchester United.

Ozbiliz is now on-loan at Willem II from Besiktas, though success in Russia had United following his progress.

The 28 year-old recalled United were keen when he was impressing with Spartak Moscow.

He told Elf Voetbal, "I got quite big in Russia and scouts from Manchester United came to watch me.

"But unfortunately I could not impress due to a severe knee injury.

"I had to rehabilitate for a long time and when I was fit again, I had to leave the club."
