Will Hughes: Crystal Palace fans a key factor

Will Hughes admits Crystal Palace's fans were a major factor in his decision to make the move from Watford.

The midfielder has signed a three-year contract.

ttold Palace's website: “I know about the noise. I've had good experiences there – not necessarily results-wise – but the atmosphere is incredible. That's what you want – not as an away player, but as a home player. It's going to be brilliant.

“I played there in the Championship and it was loud in that league, so I can't imagine what it's going to be like in the Premier League as a home player. I can't wait.

“[Fans] are a big factor for a lot of footballers, especially me – it gives you that buzz. Like we've seen in the last 18 months, football literally is nothing without fans. It's the old cliché but it has been strange playing with no fans; so to have them back and then experience this has been special."

Naturally, there were more pull factors than the supporters alone for Hughes, though, who has penned a three-year deal in south London.

He elaborates: “When I heard they were interested I had a chat with my agent about what was good about [Palace]. I knew previous players that have played here that I played with before and they said good things about the club. In the end it became a bit of a no-brainer."
