Wilder in frame as Cardiff sack McCarthy

Cardiff City have sacked manager Mick McCarthy after a run of eight defeats.

The run of results has seen Cardiff plummet from eighth to 21st in the Championship in little over a month.

During their run, Cardiff have scored only one goal and fuming supporters were demanding McCarthy's exit long before the final whistle of Saturday's home defeat.

The former Republic of Ireland manager had been in charge since January after being sacked by Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia.

Former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, spotted at Fulham last Wednesday night as Cardiff lost 2-0, is among the front-runners to succeed McCarthy, who did not attend media duties after the defeat, says the Daily Mail.
