Wigan's Polish starlet urged to press for first team place

Polish youngster Tomasz Cywka has impressed boss Steve Bruce enough to be considered for the Latics first team squad.

Cywka, 20, arrived at the JJB Stadium in 2006 and has since made just two senior Latics appearances.

Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post: "One of the reasons I let Camara go to Stoke was because I've been really impressed with Cywka.

"The kid has now got the opportunity to show me that he can be our fourth striker. He's done well in attack playing for the reserves.

"He's got a big chance for the next three months, and it's good for me to be able to give a young player this experience.

"We'll be sitting down with him and the other Polish boy (Tomasz Kupisz) in the next two or three weeks to get them tied up on new contracts."
