Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is ready to splash out on Reading striker Kevin Doyle.

The Mirror says Latics have been told to cough up £8million for the Republic of Ireland star, but are still interested.

Doyle signed a new Royals deal recently and is leading their promotion push, but a Prem return will appeal.

Royals will not want to lose him, but Wigan have the cash and the need as Bruce digs in for survival.
