Wigan Athletic are ready to deal in former Manchester City fullback Michael Ball.
The Daily Mail says Ball, 30, has spent the last few weeks training with the Barclays Premier League outfit in a bid to regain his fitness after undergoing surgery in January to his left patella tendon.
After two and a half years at Eastlands, the ex-Everton, Rangers and PSV Eindhoven left-back was released in July upon the expiry of his contract.
Ball has since found refuge at Wigan, and this week played in a behind-closed-doors friendly in which he and Angola international defender Francisco Zuela were assessed.
