The Express reports that Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell is interested in bringing Scott McDonald to the club this summer.

The Australian striker will be a free agent at the end of this month after his short-term deal runs out at Motherwell and it is believed that former Celtic teammate Caldwell wants him for the Latics' League One campaign.

The 31-year old has scored five goals in 10 appearances for the Steelmen this season and played a major part in their recent revival, however, the Fir Park outfit continue to flirt with relegation to the Scottish Championship.
