Wigan Athletic are hoping to tie down Ben Watson in a bid to see off interest from rival Championship clubs.

Reports suggest that both Reading and QPR are showing considerable interest in the 28-year old midfielder who comes out of contract at the DW Stadium at the end of the season.

Sky Sportsis of the belief that the Latics have opened contract talks with Watson who netted the winner in the FA Cup triumph over Manchester City last season.
