Dan Burn believes a back three could be his best chance of making it at Brighton.

The summer transfer window signing, loaned straight back to Wigan, is back in action in the Championship after recovering from a broken foot bone.

Burn has been in a new role on the left of three central defenders.

He said: "I've been speaking to a few people and the best way of getting into the Brighton team would be on the left-hand side of a back three.

"There's two good centre-backs there and it's something I'd like to add in my game."

Speaking to Wigan Today, he added: "I don't really know what's going to happen in January.

"As far as I know I'm here until then and then going down to Brighton, but that's up to the clubs.

"I'm sure they'll come to the right decision and I'm happy with whatever that is.

"Everyone knows how happy I am at Wigan and it was probably the best-case scenario the way it's happened, with me able to say goodbye properly."
