Wigan deal in ex-Burnley captain Caldwell

Wigan Athletic have signed free agent Steven Caldwell.

Wigan have signed former Burnley defender Caldwell on a one-year contract and the Scotland international will join brother Gary at the club.

The 29 year-old, who was a free agent after leaving Turf Moor in the summer, has impressed manager Roberto Martinez after spending the last few weeks on trial with the Latics.

Having completed the paperwork Caldwell is available for Tuesday night's Carling Cup game at Hartlepool.
