Wigan, Birmingham target McCarthy hopes to stay in England

Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy wants to stay in England.

The South Africa international has declared he wants to leave Ewood Park in January.

The Daily Mail says McCarthy hopes his future will continue to be in the Barclays Premier League as Wigan, Birmingham and Portsmouth all show an interest.

He said: "I'd like to stay in England. This is a great league. I'm just unhappy with my situation and need to feel wanted again. I'm not getting any younger but I know I can still make an impact."
