Wigan Athletic are closing in on a loan deal for Chelsea striker Franco di Santo.
The Mirror says Martinez has made an official approach for Di Santo as Jason Scotland's replacement and the forward's agent flew in from South America to open talks yesterday.
Di Santo had a loan spell at Blackburn last season that started promisingly but faded away when he was left out of Sam Allardyce's side.
Chelsea wanted to sell Di Santo but there have been no takers.
