Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan is prepared to sell the club.
The Mirror says Whelan is planning to sell his beloved Wigan - to ensure his family do not lose a fortune keeping it going.
Whelan has been through a tough few days with the loss of old friends Ronnie Clayton and John Benson.
And he is looking at the way his old club Blackburn Rovers is being sold by the late Jack Walker's trust, which includes family members.
Latics chairman Whelan will want to get a good deal for the club he built up and could get up to £40million.
Whelan, 74 this month, said: "It would be unfair of me to pass the club to my grandchildren. I have been paying in more than £100million and I can't put them in a position where they have to put money in.
"That is exactly what has happened at Blackburn."
