West Ham United left back Joe Widdowson has returned to London after a successful trial spell with Carlisle.

The 19-year-old spent five days at Brunton Park and was due to play in a reserve game but it was postponed.

He has now gone back to the Hammers for a youth team game but impressed Carlisle boss John Ward.

"It's been a good week with him, so we'll look at the situation again in January and see what happens," Ward told his club's website.
