Martin Samuelsen admits he struggled with life in England.
Now rebuilding his career at FK Haugesund, the 22 year-old Norway winger had time with both Manchester City and West Ham.
He told VG, "I was probably too much alone - a long time. I didn't get the help I needed. It was almost like I was dreading the training sessions. And it ended in many ways that I was energy-empty even before the training had started.
"People thought I was lazy when they saw me play. But I had zero energy.
"The tank was empty."
Samnuelsen is on-loan at Haugesund from the Hammers and added: "I have six months left on the contract with West Ham. So we'll see what happens after the cup final. But I want to be with Haugesund next season."
