WEST HAM v LEICESTER RECAP: Foxes go two from two at expense of Hammers

Leicester City have continued their brilliant beginning to the new campaign by beating West Ham United 2-1 on Saturday.

Claudio Ranieri's Foxes made it two from two by getting the better of Slaven Bilic's Hammers at Upton Park thanks to goals from Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrez.

Japan international Okazaki, who joined from German club Mainz this summer, opened his Leicester account in style in the 27th minute when he headed home the rebound after Adrian had kept out his initial volley.

Leicester's second goal 11 minutes later came when Marc Albrighton found Mahrez unmarked in the area, allowing the Algerian to rocket into the top left corner for his third of the season.

West Ham pulled one back through summer arrival Dimitri Payet 10 minutes into the second half when smashing home beyond Kasper Schmeichel for his first Premier League goal.

The Foxes now find themselves second on the table with six points from their two fixtures while West Ham are seventh thanks to their opening weekend win over Arsenal.

West Ham's Bilic on poor first-half showing from youngster Reece Oxford:

"We lost the game in the first half, we were better in the second.

"The first-half performance was not down to Reece Oxford - there were a few candidates I could have taken off."
