West Ham United co-chairman Gold warns Chelsea off Rice

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold is adamant Declan Rice is not for sale.

Frank Lampard is a big fan of the 21-year-old and Rice is firmly on Chelsea's transfer radar.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is closing in on a move to Stamford Bridge from Rennes, however, a return to Chelsea for Rice this summer is no guarantee.

Gold has taken to Twitter on Tuesday lunchtime to put Hammers fans at ease and deliver a warning to London rivals Chelsea.

He posted a picture of Rice fist-pumping in his West Ham kit, and captioned it: “I would like to congratulate Declan on his 100th Premier League appearance for West Ham United - a magnificent achievement.

“I am very proud of him and he epitomises everything that this great football club stands for."

Additionally, the joint-chairmen released a further statement on the club's official website, further expressing Rice's importance to the team.

Sullivan and Gold wrote: “On behalf of everyone at the Club, we would like to congratulate Declan on becoming the youngest player to make 100 Premier League appearances for West Ham United – a magnificent achievement.

“Everyone here is very proud of him and he epitomises everything that this great football club stands for."
