West Ham turned down late Liverpool bid for Cole

West Ham United denied a late bid from Liverpool for striker Carlton Cole.

The Reds threw in an offer of around £9million earlier today but rejected it as they did not have enough time to seek a replacement if Cole did happen to leave Upton Park.

Sunderland and Stoke also made bids for Cole but it seemed he would only leave West Ham if it was for a bigger club.

There were also reports that Liverpool were prepared to add winger Ryan Babel to the transfer fee but in the end, nothing occurred and the Hammers were able to hold on to the 26-year old.
