West Ham are ready to challenge Everton for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone.
The Mirror says Irons boss David Moyes is also interested in a reunion with Sunderland defender Lamine Kone with Winston Reid, dropped for the Boxing Day draw at Bournemouth, on borrowed time.
Kone, a 28-year-old centre-back, played a crucial role in keeping the Black Cats in the Premier League two years ago.
Moyes persuaded him to remain at the Stadium of Light instead of defecting to Everton. But although Kone is still at the club he has been out of form and is recovering from a knee injury.
Sunderland are willing to get him off the wage bill, however, and are open to doing a deal.
