West Ham starlet Oxford: Tottenham did not want me!

The 16-year-old became the second youngest Premier League starter of all time and seventh youngest league debutant in history after he made his debut against Arsenal on Sunday.

Oxford, who produced a commendable performance in the 2-0 win against the likes of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey, revealed he was once discarded by Spurs as he strived to make it with the North London club prior to his move to West Ham's academy in 2011.

He revealed: "I was at Tottenham for a while, but they didn't want me. I decided West Ham was the right option. I don't know what happened with Tottenham - I was a striker back then."

"But at West Ham the set-up is great. The Youth Academy likes to push the players. West Ham have been giving players chances. There are a lot of players coming through."
