West Ham saw off competition from Bayern Munich to sign Sebastien Haller, it has been revealed.
Frankfurter Rundschau says the Frenchman was under consideration at Bayern as they sought cover Robert Lewandowski.
Bayern were prepared to buy a new striker to support the Pole.
And the top two names on their shortlist were then Eintracht Frankfurt striker Haller and free agent Max Kruse.
However, in the end Haller left Eintracht Frankfurt for West Ham as Bayern chose to go into the new season with Lewandowski as their sole centre-forward option.
