West Ham rescue point with incredible comeback against Tottenham

West Ham United scored three goals in under 10 minutes to rescue a point against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Spurs got off to the best possible start thanks to Son Heung-min's curling strike after less than a minute of play.

The South Korean combined with Harry Kane once again just seven minutes later, with the England captain's rasping shot making it 2-0.

Kane got his second after connecting on Sergio Reguilon's sumptuous cross with 16 minutes on the clock.

But Spurs were unable to kill the game off and allowed West Ham to complete one of the most remarkable comebacks in Premier League history.

Fabian Balbuena's header began West Ham's fightback before Davinson Sanchez headed his attempted clearance past Hugo Lloris.

Gareth Bale, making his second debut for Spurs, had a chance to make it 4-2 but missed a simple one-on-one chance.

And the Hammers made the Welshman pay as Manuel Lanzini lashed in a long-range strike four minutes into injury time.

The result means Spurs miss the chance to move into the top-four, while West Ham are now in eighth.

Speaking after the game, West Ham boss David Moyes said: "I hadn't thought we played badly in the first half, that's what I said at half-time, sometimes you feel you have to do something - we didn't, we made changes later on and they certainly made a big difference.

"The plan was not to go 4-0 down, we said if we got one we would see what happened. It is a growing confidence we have at West Ham at the moment, we missed some chances today.

"A really good performance from the players got us back into it. We thought we played really well, the football was good, we threatened them. We are playing against a team everyone is talking about and after 10 minutes I was thinking 'is this going to be six or seven?' We changed and it made us better.

"Since we came back from lockdown we've been a completely different team. We keep scoring goals, but need to get back to clean sheets."
