West Ham ready to confirm Pellegrini appointment

West Ham are ready to announce Manuel Pellegrini as new manager.

The Mirror says Pellegrini will be confirmed as the new West Ham manager in the next two days — with a brief to turn them into a top-half team.

The 64-year-old will be named as David Moyes' replacement after Rafa Benitez decided to stay at Newcastle, where owner Mike Ashley has agreed to bankroll a summer spending spree.

Pellegrini - a former Real Madrid and Malaga boss - spent three years at Manchester City and delivered the 2013-14 Premier League title in his first season in charge.

He was first approached by West Ham in October to replace Slaven Bilic but declined as he didn't want to take over mid-season, so they turned to Moyes.
