West Ham not too badly affected by absence of Payet, Lanzini - Cresswell

Aaron Cresswell has stated that West Ham United were not too affected by the absence of star players Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzin in recent times.

Payet and Lanzini have been the star men for the Hammers so far this season and many feared that Slaven Bilic's side could suffer a slump after the two players endured injuries late last year.

Despite the loss of the duo though, West Ham have been able to pick up good results and defender Cresswell has now revealed that injuries to Payet and Lanzini did not really alter much at Upton Park.

Cresswell said: "It did not change one bit.

"Of course he (Payet) is an excellent player and we had five excellent players out. This is one of the best teams that West Ham has had in a while and credit should go to the chairman and owners for bringing players in like Payet and Manuel Lanzini.

"But we have picked up some massive points along the way. Manchester United and Swansea and are not easy places to go. We have only lost four games all season.

"The future is very bright for us going into a new stadium next year. The gaffer has come in and everything is good but it is still early on and half way through the season and we will look to the next game."
