Everton midfielder James McCarthy is a surprise target for West Ham.

The Daily Mail says West Ham are exploring the possibility of signing McCarthy on loan.

The 28-year-old is fit again after a double fracture of his right leg but has not been selected by Marco Silva.

McCarthy, who has 18 months left on contract, is also a target for Fulham and West Brom.

He has racked up 132 appearances and six goals in all competitions for the club.
