West Ham move for Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd

West Ham have made a move for Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd.

The Morocco international has been on the radar of manager David Moyes for over a year and the 26-year-old is eager to move to London, says the Daily Mail.

Moyes wanted a centre-back who can provide balance on the left as well as pace. Aguerd is also good technically and decent in the air. He impressed for his country at the African Cup of Nations and has 19 caps.

Rennes are seeking around £15m to sell Aguerd.

Adding depth will be a vital part of David Moyes' plan moving forward, as many felt West Ham's exit from the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt stemmed from the squad's lack of legs in the latter part of the season.
