Jarrod Bowen is aiming to build on his first six months with West Ham.
The midfielder arrived in January from Hull City.
“I went to see my family for a couple of weeks because obviously I haven't seen them since lockdown," Bowen told West Ham TV. “Then I went on holiday for a week which was also nice, just to switch off from football.
“I've done a little bit of work to try and keep myself ticking over, but it's such a short break, it was hard to try and fit everything in – seeing the family, going away, keeping fit. You had to ram it into that small chunk of time. It was a good break, but I'm feeling good and ready to go again.
“I'm excited to have a proper season at it. I came in January, halfway through the season, and just went straight in at the deep end so it was harder to settle. Now, I've had a pre-season with the boys, the gaffer and the coaching staff, and I'm looking forward to having a full season at it in the Premier League."
Bowen added: “I still think I've got to prove people wrong. There are probably still a lot of question marks about me – I've only played 12 games in the Premier League – so it's great to have a full season at it.
“Hopefully the fans are happy with my performances so far. I try and put in as much as I can each week – so hopefully I can get them all chanting my name again when they return in the future."
