West Ham encouraged in plans for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah

West Ham United are eyeing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

The London Evening Standard says West Ham have been given hope a deal could be done for Arsenal striker Nketiah this summer after fellow forward Folarin Balogun signed a new contract with the Gunners.

After selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax in January, and with fitness constantly a worry for Michail Antonio, the Hammers want to sign a new striker this summer and Nketiah is one of the targets on their shortlist.

West Ham have been tracking Nketiah since January and were open to possibly signing him then, but Arsenal refused to listen to offers.

West Ham now hope that stance may have softened, however, after Arsenal persuaded Balogun to sign a new deal.

Nketiah will have one year left to run on his contract come the end of the season and both he and Arsenal face a decision over his future.
