West Ham defender Ogbonna: Devastated - but I'll be back

West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna is determined to fight back from his knee injury.

Ogbonna has vowed to return as soon as possible to help West Ham in a "truly special year" after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Italian defender underwent a scan on his right knee on Monday after an uncomfortable turn during Sunday's win over Liverpool, with the results showing damage to his ACL.

West Ham have confirmed that the 33-year-old will see another specialist this week to ascertain the full extent of the damage.

After confirmation of the news this morning, Ogbonna posted to social media: "Unfortunately my knee forces me to take a break and return asap to fight with you.

"Of course I am devastated I can't continue our battle from the field, but, as a fighter, I'll be back and till my return I'll be supporting the team in this truly special year.

"See you soon guys."
