West Ham United assistant coach Stuart Pearce has spoken about the rumours linking Jesse Lingard with a return to the club.

The England international was at West Ham during the second half of last season, where he thrived under manager David Moyes.

However, Lingard returned to United in the summer, and has struggled for game time so far this season.

Pearce told talkSPORT about Lingard: "I think Jesse what he showed last year he's going to be linked with various clubs, there's no doubt about that.

"From his point of view, he'll be looking at the World Cup in less than a year's time and thinking 'what do I have to do, where will I have to play my football?'

"All we know is he's at Manchester United at the moment, he's out of contract next summer, I'm sure he'll have one or two suitors in the summer.

"He did himself no harm coming to us when he did and the form he showed."
