Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed the Gunners are likely to be without star striker Alexis Sanchez for their Premier League opener against West Ham United on Sunday.
Sanchez was always likely to miss the first round of competition after missing Arsenal's pre-season training program while recovering from international duty with Chile at the Copa America.
Wenger says that Sunday's clash with the Hammers was 'a bit early' for Sanchez to make his return.
"Alexis is back in training but I don't think he will be involved on Sunday, it is a bit early maybe," Wenger said.
"We have to decide that at the end of the week, but I don't think he will be involved.
Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky will also miss the fixture as they continue their rehabilitation from injury.
"We have Welbeck on a progressive recovery and Rosicky on a progressive recovery," Wenger added.
