West Ham chiefs block Pellegrini plans for Husillos appointment

West Ham have blocked Mario Husillos' appointment as new football director.

The Sun says West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has lost another boardroom battle after the club snubbed his preferred choice for a new head of recruitment.

Reports have already swirled around claiming the Chilean boss is not happy with his lot in East London, a month after his arrival from China, and now he's been dealt a fresh blow.

Pellegrini wanted Husillos to join the club as new football director.

Husillos worked with Pellegrini during his three-year stint at Malaga and is a childhood friend of his assistant Ruben Cousillas.

But there were doubts among the Hammers top brass he was up to the task after a disastrous return to the Spanish club last year, with his recruitment costing Malaga their La Liga status.
