West Ham United co-chairman David Gold is optimistic that new signing Alex Song can remain injury free this season.
Song made a return back to West Ham on another season-long loan deal from Barcelona on transfer deadline day. While Song can prove to be a great addition for the Hammers once again, there are major concerns regarding his fitness.
Gold is well aware of Song's recent injury problems but he is hopeful that the Cameroonian international will be worth the risk.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Gold said: "It does worry you and Alex Song does have a bit of a history. However when quality players like him become available, sometimes you have to take a risk and that's what we've done.
"I don't think it's a big risk, the injury isn't life threatening and I'm optimistic."
