The London Evening Standard says Hammers boss Avram Grant has made signing a right-back his No1 priority before the transfer window closes next week.
Aston Villa's former Charlton defender Young is one possibility while West Ham are also considering a loan deal offer for Tottenham's Kyle Walker.
