West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini insists their summer signings will come good.
Pellegrini will bid to avoid becoming the first Hammers boss in history to lose the first five matches of a season on Sunday, when he takes his rock-bottom side to Everton.
And he insisted the club were correct to splash £100million on nine new players this summer.
“If you want to grow, you need players," he said.
“For so many years this club has not been fighting for important things, so the first step is to bring in good players. If you don't bring in good players, you are not going to be successful. It is a risk but we believe, if you don't spend the money, you cannot grow."
