West Ham boss Allardyce: Holloway could've kept Blackpool up if...

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce believes Ian Holloway blundered when he was in charge of Blackpool in the Premier League.

Allardyce compared Holloway's work with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho this season.

Allardyce wrote in the London Evening Standard: "Chelsea's 1-0 victory over Manchester United last month was a perfect example of working out a way to win and then doing it. They said to United, 'you can have as much possession as you want but we'll still beat you'.

"That's not boring, that's understanding the situation and then working out a way to overcoming the challenge. If you can't do that you don't survive at this level.

"I like Ian Holloway a lot but if he had been a little more pragmatic when Blackpool were in the Premier League, they would have survived. They had so many points before Christmas that all they needed to do was draw the rest."
