West Ham boss Allardyce battling to keep Stoke target Collison

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is attempting to keep hold of unsettled midfielder Jack Collison.

The Sun says the new Hammers boss wants face-to-face talks with the Wales midfielder, 22, when he returns from holiday next week.

Collison, who has two years on his deal, was due to meet vice-chairman Karren Brady on Thursday to discuss his future.

But Allardyce has now intervened in a bid to outline his rebuilding plans for the Championship club, which centre around the academy product.

Stoke are one of several clubs interested in Collison, fit again after a year out with a knee injury.
