West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola was unhappy with the way Newcastle went about trying to allegedly unsettle Hammers captain Lucas Neill. Magpies manager Joe Kinnear revealed on Thursday that the club had made an enquiry for the defender, before ending interest in the Australian later that day.
Zola has responded angrily to rumours that Kinnear had been in contact with Neill's agent.
The Italian told The Sun: "This is something I'd never do. I stick to my philosophy.
"I have respect for all managers and I would expect them to behave the same way.
"Lucas is committed and is happy to stay here."
