West Ham battling to secure Jeremy Ngakia to season-end deal

West Ham United are battling to secure Jeremy Ngakia to a deal to the end of the season.

The London Evening Standard says West Ham remain locked in talks with youngster Ngakia over a short-term extension until at least the end of the season.

The Hammers have until Tuesday to agree a new deal with the 19-year-old, who is poised to become a free agent.

Ngakia has so far rejected contract offers from West Ham - the latest worth around £5,000-a-week - but was handed a start against Wolves as part of a late charm offensive by manager David Moyes.

Moyes appeared resigned to losing Ngakia when speaking to Standard Sport earlier this month, but has not totally given up on a last-minute U-turn from the player.
