West Ham and Bournemout in for Sunderland's Defoe

According to Sky Sports, West Ham and Bournemouth are interested in signing Sunderland's Jermaine Defoe in the summer.

Defoe, 34, has had successful stints at both clubs in his long career. The Englishman signed for West Ham as a 16-year old from Charlton, and went on to score 41 goals for the club over four years.

In his second season at Upton Park, he was sent out on a season long loan to Bournemouth.

In the 2001/2 Second Division campaign, Defoe had one of the most successful seasons of any Cherries player, scoring 18 goals in 28 games and equalling a club record by scoring in ten consecutive matches.

Defoe is almost certain to leave the Black Cats after they were relegated to Championship following their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth last Saturday.
