Callum McManaman admits consecutive defeats to Aston Villa has been "devastating" for West Bromwich Albion.
He admitted the derby double whammy had been hard to take for the dressing room.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "They've been devastating. I've played at Wembley before so I know what it means.
"All the lads were so devastated - not least as the atmosphere was so good from the away fans. We have to put it right now.
"We have to recover and if we beat Stoke on Saturday then we're in pole position and know we can keep the gap between ourselves and the bottom sides.
"We need to think of it in that way - to make sure we are never in a position where we can be dragged into trouble."
